Flickr Coolness

IncomeHero posted a comment on my post about the new features on my blog and asked if I knew anything about increasing traffic with flickr. Now while I have not experimented with flickr before (this is actually my first time using it), I have some pretty cool results to report.

About a week after setting up my flickr account and posting a link from this site to it, my flickr page started ranking second on google for my name “matt geri”. It wiped out all the competition which, funnily enough is quite a bit. Just ask Jonathan Wold who used to try compete for my name ;)

I’ve also noticed ikarma ranks on the first page and not too long ago I had a xanga page up there too.

Now while rankings for my name is pretty much useless/meaning less, you can use the power and authority of these big sites to drive traffic to your own sites. Just don’t spam or try any 30 day challenge tricks - if you know what I mean ;)

The Key To A Successful Blog

I think I just figured out the key to a successful blog. And its actually pretty simple. I’ve been studying a couple successful “probloggers” over the past few weeks and noticed one thing in particular.

They all post regularly.

Some make long posts (Which I usually find extremely boring and unsubscribe pretty fast), but the majority make short, to the point posts that I really enjoy. Just little tidbits of information.

So my goal for the remainder of this month is to post at least 3-5 times a week. Not long posts, but useful posts :)

As for the 30 day challenge. I scrapped it. I got sick, didn’t have time and was plain lazy. However, I am still going to blog about my progress with Nicherama.com and making money with blogging. I have some really exciting things coming up. One of them is launching my new web design business. Will post pictures of my new office shortly!
